You ever been down? Like, really down? I have, and it was just this year! I went through a breakup, had to move back home, had my dream job dangled in front of my face only to be taken away and that ain't even the half! Then this one magical month began! I got a new job (and received a raise within two weeks of starting), I walked in a nationally recognized hair show with one of the biggest vendors there, and I have had one of the best birthdays ever! I was questioning my purpose daily, and I realize now that in order for me to appreciate my blessings that I needed to be stripped completely. Now that I've made it "Through the Rain" (thanks Mariah Carey), I see that even when I was down I was not out because I have an amazing support system. I am eternally grateful to all of my friends and family (especially you Mommy!) for listening to all of my dead end plans that were not meant for me to follow through. Love you guys!

I Stepped Out of My Comfort Zone!
All my life I have been told that I, "Should be a model". I just never believed it. I always thought I was pretty, but not that pretty. I never really felt model pretty because of my insecurities. I thought I was too short, fat, pigeon-toed, and all kinds of other things. Anyway, this past May, I was watching tv with my mom and we saw some girls auditioning for a hair show, and my mom looked over at me and said, "You should do that!" Just to appease her, I googled the Bronner Brothers Hair Show auditions. As luck would have it, the auditions were three days away so I went. I got there just hoping to be a promo model who would possibly pass out flyers. But when I arrived, one of my biggest insecurities was put to the test... I had to walk the runway! I'm there surrounded by veterans and amazon like women (most of which knew each other already). I threw caution to the wind and went for it. As I had already imagined I was cut because my walking skills were meager at best. However, when I got to the car and was preparing to leave, the show's creative director yelled my name! She told me that she had been watching and saw my potential and told me to come back. Can you imagine? Just as I was feeling crestfallen, I was chosen! Out of all of the girls that got cut, the creative director took off her shoes to chase after me! I was ecstatic and I worked hard, but I did it! I walked in a professional show! Me! This past weekend, I took the stage! It was an amazing feeling, cameras everywhere, and I sopped it up! I feel really good about the show and have already made plans to take runway lessons so that I can improve my runway walk. This experience was such a gift, not only was I able to play dress up and get my hair and makeup done for FREE! But, I also forged some friendships with some really special women who helped and encouraged me along the way! I am so glad that I decided to face my fears because I created some memories that never be forgotten...XO
